CFI Presents: Your Deceptive Mind:A Scientific Guide to Critical Thinking Skills

DATE CHANGED FOR AUGUST

To avoid the long weekend, this meeting will be moved to August 15.

This will be the final 2 lectures of the series.  We’ll also be discussing whether we want to continue with a new series, so please bring your ideas/suggestions.  (Or if  you can’t make it to the meeting, post in the comments.)
Many people are familiar with Steve Novella, as host of the Skeptics Guide to the Universe, blogger at Science-Based Medicine, or just all-round goto guy for scientific skepticism.

But you may not know that Novella has created a video course in critical thinking offered by The Great Courses.

Here’s a summary: What should you think? Who should you believe? Could you be deceiving yourself? These are questions that all critical thinkers of any age must constantly ask themselves. There is no more important skill in today’s world than being able to think about, understand, and act on information in a way that is both effective and responsible. Critical thinking transforms you from a passive member of society into an active participant in the ideas and issues of the day. It empowers you to better understand nearly every single aspect of everyday life, from health and nutrition to science and technology to philosophical and spiritual belief systems.

Everyone is welcome to join us to view the lectures and join in lively followup discussion. There are 24 lectures and we will be viewing 2 per session.
